Philosophy of Education

I believe that all young children are intelligent and capable. The preschool years are a unique time in a child’s life and should be treasured not just for the immense potential they hold, but also the joy, wonder, curiosity, and expertise they already possess.

 

I believe that early education is a time for exploration and excitement about learning. Children’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm should guide the curriculum and experiences in the classroom. Children’s play should be the heart of their day at school.

 

I believe all children deserve a meaningful education that challenges and delights them across a wide range of content areas and experiences. Every child has unique needs, talents, and interests, and they all have a place in the classroom community.

 

I believe that the social and self-regulatory skills children learn in preschool are every bit as crucial as content knowledge and academic readiness.

 

I believe the role of a preschool teacher is that of a facilitator for children’s learning, as well as a co-learner along their journey. In the classroom, they act as a host and a supporter while children learn a variety of skills and information.

 

I believe that teachers of young children have a huge responsibility and privilege as professionals in an important field. Children are indeed our future and early educators play a critical role in introducing them to peers, social skills, learning habits, an educational community, and the beginning of their journey in school as as lifelong learner.
